Roll 'n' Match

Description

Roll around as a die and push other dice in this 2D grid-based puzzle game. Your goal is to match numbers with other dice to clear your way to victory. Will you learn the ways of the dice or lose your mind in the challenges?  It will be possible to aimlessly wander into a solution but can you do it in as few steps as possible. Try to do a "great job" in every level.

The game models the mechanics of rolling a right-handed six-sided die on a plane.

This game was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2022 in 48 hours. Due to limited time the game may contain bugs, and you might find more optimal solutions than required for the "great job".

Instructions

• Roll the yellow die with arrow keys
• Mach the numbers on top of adjacent dice to clear them
• Clear all other dice to win

• You can push other dice and roll them too
• You can see the sides of the yellow die on the left side of the screen
• Press X to scroll through other dice and inspect their sides on the right

• Press C to reset the level
• Hold C to go back to level selection

• Once you clear the level you will see how many steps you took
• Clear the level with few enough steps to get "great job"
• The step targets are not optimized, post your best results in the comments
